Start on site for Mount Street office

Fore Partnership has announced Windmill Green as the new name for its 24 Mount Street redevelopment, as partial-demolition begins to make way for a 78,000 sq ft office.

The real estate investment firm was granted planning permission in August for its refurbishment and extension of the 40,000 sq ft block, formerly known as London Scottish House, at the corner of Mount Street and Windmill Street.

The offices are being marketed as “an entrepreneurial hub” and will be delivered across seven floors.

The project will include retail and leisure space, a roof terrace and improvements to the public realm.

TP Bennett is the architect, and the demolition contractor is PP O’Connor. Kier is understood to be the main contractor. Construction is due to complete in December 2017.

Basil Demeroutis, managing partner of Fore, said: “We believe the name Windmill Green reflects the building’s location, its heritage, its sustainability and design, as well as cementing it as a collaborative meeting place for people to live out their work-life ambitions – to collaborate, to make and to network.

“At Windmill Green we want to create a fluid and adaptive workspace that responds to the needs of today’s employees who are demanding more from their jobs.

“We will draw the best talent and bring collaborative businesses together in a hub of entrepreneurial energy in the heart of Manchester.”

Knight Frank and Lambert Smith Hampton are the agents for Windmill Green.

This is going to look very dated very quickly! An eyesore next to a beautiful iconic building

How do you know it’s cheap and nasty , from the above photo ? Wait until it’s built then pass judgement.

I think that one looks like a winner. A big improvement on what is there currently.
