Starship recruits Urban Splash development director

Simon Humphreys has been appointed director of regeneration and place at the Wirral company, heading up its new urban regeneration team.

Humphreys has more than 30 years of experience in urban regeneration and modular projects, most of that garnered at Urban Splash. As a development director with Urban Splash, Humphreys’s work included delivering the company’s Ropewalks, Matchworks and New Islington projects.

At Starship, Humphreys will be responsible for growing the developer’s regeneration offer and delivering high-profile projects across the region.

“We are really delighted to announce that Simon has joined the Starship team,” said Dave Dargan, managing director at Starship.

“[Humphreys] brings with him a wealth of knowledge, experience and passion in regeneration and placemaking which will be invaluable to us and our partners.”

Humphrey’s hire is one of several announcements coming from Starship, according to Dargan.

“This is such an exciting time for everyone involved with Starship and having another high-profile addition to our team underpins our commitment to being one of the most innovative, active and place-led developers around,” he said.

“We have lots of exciting news to shout about in the coming weeks and months which we can’t wait to tell you about.”

For his part, Humphreys said he was “excited to be joining such a bright and passionate team”.

He continued: “I’ll be dedicating my energy and experience, together with the broad range of skills already in the business, to create truly regenerative places and sustainable homes and neighbourhoods with our customers at the heart of everything.”

Backed by a private investment fund, Starship’s main offices are at Hythe in Wirral Waters. The developer has delivered more than £75m of residential projects and is in the midst of delivering another £30m. The group has a further £100m in the pipeline.

The company is also active in the MMC scene, with Starship Modular delivering more than 50 homes this year alone. This includes three low-carbon homes for Magenta Living’s project at Windsor Close in New Ferry.
