Speke police station primed for overhaul
Working with McLennan Architects, Merseyside Police has lodged plans for the redevelopment of the Ganworth Road facility with Liverpool City Council.
The site currently houses three buildings and on-site parking across a footprint of 32,961 sq ft.
The proposals include the replacement of doors and windows, along with the demolition of a standalone gym and kennels building, to be replaced by additional parking for six cars and two vans.
Eight parking bays will be fitted with electric vehicle chargers. A cycle shelter will also be included in the project.
Also included is the replacement of the rear boundary wall with a 3m-high paladin security fence, and the addition of a solar PV array to the station’s roof.
A turfed area to the front of the station annexe building will see an accessible paved area introduced, while four access ramps will be added. A new escape stair will also be brought in.
The plans have now been validated on LCC’s planning portal, with the reference 24F/2211.
Such is the lack of planning applications coming through this is the best we can do, a few new windows and extra parking bays.
