Spec phase kicks off at Logistics North

Steelwork is now out of the ground on Multiply, the next phase of Harworth’s Logistics North development in Bolton.

Contractor Buckingham Group has begun the construction of three units ranging in size from just under 47,000 sq ft to 65,000 sq ft as part of the first phase.

Multiply is being delivered by a joint venture between Harworth and the Lancashire County Pension Fund that will see construction of 10 commercial units totalling 564,000 sq ft across 31.2 acres over the next two years.

The initial three units are expected to be completed and ready for occupation in November 2017.

Harworth has also started the construction of a 27,5000 sq ft unit and one of 24,750 sq ft, both of which will be ready for occupation in early 2018. This month will see Greene King’s Pine Tree Farm pub and a Costa drive-through open.

Retained agents for all new commercial units are B8 Real Estate and JLL. Lancashire County Pension Fund is advised by Local Pension Partnership and Knight Frank Investment Management.

Logistics North is to see 4m sq ft in total built out – since outline consent was granted in 2013, 2.5m sq ft has been built, is under construction or is committed.

Chris Davidson, associate director of major projects at Harworth, said: “It has taken us just three and a half years to get to this position. We are justifiably proud of what the site has become and we will continue to work hard to get all of these units ready on time to bring further jobs to Bolton and the region.”

John Styles, partner at Knight Frank Investment Management, added: “Getting steelwork out of the ground is always one of the most exciting milestones in any commercial development and we’re pleased that everything remains on track for all three Multiply units to be completed by November.

“High specification new commercial space remains at a premium in the North West and we are confident we can meet pent-up demand in the region.”
