Spanish restaurant venture begins at Liverpool One

Wirral health consultant Peter Kinsella is changing career to open a Catalonian restaurant in Liverpool One.

Kinsella is investing £750,000 in the new venture, called Lunya, and has signed a 15-year lease with Grosvenor for a 4,500 sq ft unit on College Lane.

Lunya will open in March and serve foods from the North East of Spain and other Spanish regions as well as selected North West England producers.

He said: "Since I can remember, I have had an infatuation with North East Spain and the food the region has to offer, with a long-term view taking the risk of establishing and running my own restaurant.

"Lunya will offer something very different, a concept that is a mix of Catalan culinary culture mixed with Spanish traditions and flare.

"We will serve 1,500 covers per week for breakfast, lunch and dinner, with the average spend being £12 in the deli."

The restaurant will have a seating capacity of 180 and will serve tapas and a daily a la carte specials menu. There will be space for outside dining in the summer. Lunya will also offer one of the UK's largest online delis.
