South Cumbria holiday park expands

Copeland Council has granted planning permission for the £2m expansion of Port Haverigg Holiday Village.

The project includes a new tourist information centre and cafe with views across the Irish Sea. The park is owned by Steven Attwood, who commissioned architects Frank Whittle Partnership in Preston and Manchester to design the development.

Attwood will now add 100 caravns to the park, taking it from 190 to 290. There will also be new facilities for guests, landscaping and lakes on the site to attract wildlife.

David Robinson, managing partner at FWP, said: "The expansion of Port Haverigg Holiday Park is very good news for the economy of south Cumbria and will help to attract more people to this wonderful part of the country, which is great for businesses and jobs."
