Solomon Commercials proposes 50,000 sq ft HQ
The Bacup-born company equips vans and trailers with refrigerators and freezers for fresh deliveries and wants to establish a flagship headquarters to consolidate operations for storage, production, and office facilities at Kingsway in Haslingden.
Alden Green, a vehicle of Solomon Commercials, submitted the plans to Rossendale Council.
Proposals outline the development of a 40,000 sq ft production and warehouse building, a 17,600 sq ft four-storey office, and a further 175,000 sq ft of vehicle storage.
The warehouse building would only have one floor, but with a mezzanine level.
Designs have been drawn up by Barrowclough Architects, and Connollys submitted the planning application on behalf of Alden Green.
The 14-acre scheme would adjoin Solomon Commercials’ existing facility, which sits directly south of the application site.

Solomon Commercials operates out of eight sites nearby, housing separate production lines for different parts, and employs more than 450 people.
The site is currently allocated for residential development under Rossendale Council’s local plan; however, a 2019 application for 131 homes was held up by residents’ objections.

Mark Solomon, chairman of Solomon Commercials, said: “This is more than just an expansion; it’s a commitment to our people, our customers, and our community.
“By consolidating our operations within Rossendale alongside our established Kingsway facility, we are creating a flagship headquarters and manufacturing centre that will not only increase our production capacity but also drive efficiency, innovation, and collaboration across every part of the business.
“This strategic move allows us to bring key functions together under one roof, reduce operational complexity, and create a modern environment where our people can thrive and develop.
“It gives us the space and capability to serve our customers better, innovate faster, and grow stronger.”
Those working on the project include Adept, Miller Goodall, TPM, Ascerta, Mode, and Worm’s Eye.
