Social PR director speaks at Commons
John Quinton-Barber, a director with Manchester-based Social Public Relations, spoke at the House of Commons to support the Town & Country Planning Association's launch of its Guide to Building Better Places.
The guide is aimed at improving how developers consult with local communities.
Quinton-Barber took part in a panel discussion about the role of local communities in the planning process.
He said: "By being innovative and using social media, developers that we work with are now meeting a new type of constituent: the young student, the single mum, and the young couple wanting to get on the housing ladder, as well as grandparents concerned about where their grandchildren will live and work.
"The challenge is to make sure we continue to find innovative ways to engage with everyone and get people interested in building better places."
Social Public Relations is working with Places for People, one of the UK's largest property development, management and regeneration companies with more than 143,000 homes, which champions consultation and involvement in their schemes.
