Site secured for brownfield Ellesmere Port homes

Developer and contractor Lane End Group and housing association Onward are to combine forces on a 48-home project in Great Sutton.

The development on the A41, part-funded by Homes England, is to be built on the site of a former garden centre, and is largely surrounded by existing housing.

Two-bedroom apartments, and two, three and four-bedroom houses will feature in the scheme, which is to be 100% affordable with a mix of shared ownership and affordable rent. Planning has been secured and work will start on site in the next few months, Lane End said.

Richard Harrison, Lane End managing director, said: “Our development will inject new energy and life into a site that requires investment and regeneration.

“We believe the reinvigoration of this site within an established residential area and bringing it back into a use which will improve the wider area is of benefit to all.

“We are looking forward to starting construction at Great Sutton and making a valuable contribution to the community.”

Harrison added that Lane End has now completed or is working on 1,800 dwellings.

Pete Rooney, project manager for Onward, said: “At Onward we are dedicated to creating affordable homes in the North West and helping local communities thrive.”

“The development will also allow us to expand our geographical footprint in Cheshire West, which is a priority growth area for us.”
