Signature pivots at Kingsway House
The developer is seeking to convert the ground and mezzanine floors to 16 apartments with office space at the central Liverpool building.
According to plans that go before Liverpool City Council’s planning committee next week, Signature Living’s plans for the vacant 1960s office block are to bring forward three studios, five one-bedroom apartments, seven two-bedroom apartments and one three-bedroom apartment in a scheme designed in-house.
Planning consent is already in place for 76 one and two-bedroom apartments on the upper floors of the office building and two additional storeys, a project that is now well under way.
Place North West understands that the floors within the main body of the building are close to completion and ould be handed over this month, with the two-floor extension set for completion in August.
Signature is seeking to change its existing consent for flexible commercial space at ground and mezzanine level.
Kingsway House sits on Hatton Garden, close to the junction with Dale Street, and formerly housed council offices.
Six of the units will be duplex, across the ground floor and mezzanine spaces, while there will be a 435 sq ft office space on the ground floor.
Following revisions to the design, brick piers are to be introduced to break up a proposed long expanse of glazing and “visually connect the upper floors to the ground”. The ground floor scheme includes the infill of the building’s undercroft.
Approval is recommended.
I’m sure investors at the Shankly hotel who haven’t been paid for well over two years will be ecstatic to hear that Signature are still going strong
