Severfield secures Everton stadium job
The Yorkshire-based structural steel specialist has worked on notable projects including the Shard in London and MECD in Manchester and has now won the contract for the Toffees’ £500m ground at Bramley-Moore Dock.
The Everton stadium contract sees Severfield’s order book boosted to £376m, a record high according to a trading update published yesterday.
Main contractor Laing O’Rourke is on site at Bramley-Moore Dock carrying out enabling works following planning approval of the 53,000-capacity stadium in March.
The stadium forms part of the £5bn Liverpool Waters regeneration project being led by developer Peel L&P.
Everton estimates that the project could deliver a £1.3bn boost to the city’s economy, create more than 15,000 jobs, and attract 1.4m visitors to Liverpool.

Severfield, which has a manufacturing facility in Bolton, has provided steel for various other stadia projects, including Tottenham Hotspur’s £1bn venue and the expansion of Lords Cricket Ground.
In 2014, the group won the contract for the expansion of the Main Stand at Liverpool Football Club’s Anfield Stadium.
The cost of steel is being closely watched by the construction and development communities. A surge in demand, coupled with the impacts of Brexit and the pandemic, have resulted in dwindling supplies and rising prices.
Severfield has previously predicted that the situation could impact margins but that the problem could begin to abate towards the end of the year.

It is always great to give contracts to local suppliers/builders but they have to be competitive.
Anyway I don`t suppose we`re concerned when our local companies win contracts in other cities .

Oh yes, that massive choice of many local structural steelwork contractors in Liverpool capable of manufacturing, supplying and installing 00,000’s tons of steel as opposed to a company selected less than 30 miles away in Bolton. The quality of comments on here has really diminished in recent times, its about time PNW made users sign up to comment.
