Carlisle plots further details of St Cuthbert’s

Developer Premcor is to progress its plans for a 71-bedroom hotel, with the Lake District National Parks Authority voting to delegate approval powers to officers.

A working group led by local MP Simon Fell is looking for a consultant to develop a vision for the coastal site in Ulverston offered for development by the pharma giant.

The Lake District National Park Authority has approved an application to redevelop a site on the shores of Windermere into a holiday park, in a scheme led by marina operator Windermere Aquatic. 

The county council has launched the search for a contractor to design and build the Carlisle Southern Link Road, a key piece of infrastructure intended to help unlock the proposed 10,000-home St Cuthbert’s Garden Village.

Refreshed plans by developer Premcor for a 71-bedroom Premier Inn hotel have been submitted to the Lake District National Park Authority.

The Swan Hotel and Spa, on the banks of the River Leven in Newby Bridge, is to upgrade and grow its spa offering and create 30 more bedrooms, after secured funding for the project.

The county council intends to apply for grant funding from Homes England to build a link road that would facilitate the development of the 10,000-home community.

Copeland Council’s proposed £25m regeneration of the Cumbrian town took a step forward today with the submission of a bid to the Government’s Future High Street Fund.  

Details of a proposed overhaul of the West Cumbrian town have been revealed, including to bring into use the former Carlton cinema building, rejuvenate the Promenade and create an outdoor market and activities space in the town.
