Schuh signs in Chester mall

On behalf of centre owners Carlyle Group and Bride Hall, Savills and Tushingham Moore have let retail space at Grosvenor Shopping Centre to Schuh.

The footwear retailer agreed a 10-year lease on two combined units in Newgate Row, comprising a total floor area of 5,450 sq ft. The store will be the first standalone for Schuh in Chester and is due to open late 2012.

Schuh will join existing tenants at Grosvenor Shopping Centre including the newly opened Jack Jones and Jigsaw units and the recently refitted Top Shop and Top Man, as well as Boodles, Footlocker, H&M, Hugo Boss, LK Bennett and River Island.

Linsay Miller, estates manager at Schuh, said: "Chester was one of our longest standing and highest priority requirements in the UK and we are looking forward to the store opening later this year."

Roger Gorham, director of Bride Hall, added: "This is a hugely significant letting for our shopping centre. Schuh is one of the strongest brands on the UK high street at the moment and we are delighted and very excited about their opening in Grosvenor Shopping Centre."

Schuh was represented by Hartnell Taylor Cooke.
