Savills hires Turner as director

Simon Turner has joined the consultancy after working at Homes England since late 2020.

Turner has been hired as a director in the development team at Savills’ Manchester office and is tasked with supporting public and private landowners and developers across the North of England.

He was previously senior development manager at government land agency Homes England, where he worked in the Garden Communities High Growth & New Settlements team.

Prior to that, he was a director in Lambert Smith Hampton’s Manchester office for almost five years, after working as regional director for regeneration consultancy Aspinall Verdi since 2013. He had his own company, Simon Turner Consulting, before that.

During his 20-year career, Turner has advised on the planning and delivery of major residential, mixed-use and regeneration developments in the North, including advising on high-profile regeneration assets such as Wigan Pier and Grange Lido.

At Savills, he will help to shape and promote development proposals through property market and land use analysis, viability appraisals, and delivery advice.

“This is a really significant appointment that will further strengthen the expertise provided by our 17-strong development team in Manchester,” said Adam Mirley, director and head of development consultancy at Savills in Manchester.

“We are delighted to have Simon on board and, with the market experience he has, we are excited to enhance the services we offer our clients at a time where strength in the region’s development market prevails.”

Turner added: “It’s an incredibly exciting time to be joining Savills and I am looking forward to building on the success that the team has had to date.

“Public and private sector organisations continue to face challenges towards delivery of development, which requires all stakeholders to explore innovative and pragmatic solutions. This presents real opportunities across the North and I am looking forward to getting stuck into this new challenge.”
