Salford’s £6m affordable housing scheme completes
Developer Investar Property Group has completed 58 affordable homes in a scheme known as Melody Gardens, set to be managed by Places for People.
Work began on the site on the corner of Liverpool Street and Weaste Lane in August 2018.
It was previously home to All Souls Roman Catholic Church before its demolition in 2011.
All of the 58 homes are being allocated by Places for People via the local authorities choice based lettings system.
Melody Gardens is comprised of nine three-bedroom and four-bedroom houses, one two-bedroom bungalow, and 48 apartments.
Salford-based contractor Watson Homes completed construction in late November, which was two months ahead of schedule.
Michael Dong, chief executive of Investar, said: “Melody Gardens is a new community that meet the needs of Salford families who require high quality social housing. We’d like to thank all of our project partners for helping us deliver this much-needed development with time to spare.”
Mike Watson, director of Watson Homes, said: “Our team has worked hard on every aspect of this build programme to ensure that Melody Gardens would be ready for Places for People and their customers well ahead of schedule.”
