Salford Uni plans Engineering Showcase building

The University of Salford has submitted a planning application for an extension to its School of Engineering, to create a new entrance to the Peel Park campus and a space to exhibit the works of its students.

The work on the Newton Building will provide a new access point for people coming to the campus from the A6 and Salford Crescent train station, as well as space for an Engineering Showcase.

The university has successfully bid for £3m from the European Regional Development Fund, in addition to a £2.5m matched contribution from the Higher Education Funding Council for England.

Day Architectural designed the extension. The structure is intended to incorporate various forms of engineering to reflect its position as a gateway into the school.
