Runcorn plot set for 26-unit development

Riverside Estates intends to bring a 34,000 sq ft small-unit industrial scheme to a former cement batching plant close to the Manchester Ship Canal.

The 3.3-acre site sits between the ship canal and Warrington Road, around 3km from the centre of Runcorn, close to Domino Court.

The applicant, advised by Nuko Planning, wants to build 26 units. Around 12,500 sq ft of the space is to be classed as storage/distribution, with around 21,500 sq ft earmarked for light industrial.

Riverside wants to deliver single-storey buildings, in line with much of the industrial development around Warrington Road and Manor Park.

The plans go before Halton Council’s development control committee next Tuesday with a recommendation for approval.

Also recommended for the go-ahead are three further schemes, the largest being plans from The Storage Team, advised by Owen Ellis Architects, for the conversion and extension of the 12,600 sq ft former ATS tyre depot on Fiddlers Ferry Road into a 53,600 sq ft self-storage facility.

Also in Widnes, Devenish Nutrition is looking to expand within its holding with a further industrial building, while SEP Land & Development is seeking approval to build 37 apartments for over-55s at the former Upton Medical Centre.
