Rochdale warehouse set for July finish
Wilson Bowden Developments and Rochdale Council are close to completion on the 216,000 sq ft Kingsway 216 warehouse, a speculative unit backed by an £18.5m investment from Standard Life.
The shed is being built by Bowmer & Kirkland and is due to be finished later this month. The business park is owned by the Kingsway Partnership, which consists of Rochdale Council, Rochdale Development Agency, Wilson Bowden Developments and the Homes & Communities Agency.
According to Rochdale Council, a number of businesses have shown an interest in moving into the development, which is targeted at logistics and distribution companies.
Four further units, known as plot K, each between 35,000 sq ft and 75,000 sq ft in size, are due for completion in December.
Around 73 new homes could also be built close to the site, with a planning application set to be determined in autumn this year.
Cllr Richard Farnell, leader of Rochdale Council, said: “Kingsway continues to grow and create jobs for local people and these speculative developments demonstrate a high level of investor confidence in Rochdale.
“We already have strong interest in Kingsway 216 and the four units set to be finished later this year will help us attract more logistics, distribution and manufacturing companies into the borough.”
