Ribble Valley hotel set for £15m extension

Lancashire boutique hotel, Stanley House, is set for a major expansion through a £15m development.

The hotel in Mellor in the Ribble Valley has 12 bedrooms, a fine dining restaurant, and conference facilities currently.

The expansion will add 40 bedrooms, a spa with jacuzzi, salt, ice and steam rooms, sauna hot benches and an external hot tub and a fire pit. There will also be eight personal treatment suites, dry float facilities and relaxation rooms, a gym, aerobics and exercise rooms and an 18m swimming pool. A new 90-seat brasserie will be added to the dining facilities and a less formal dining area with commanding westward views towards the Ribble Estuary.

The older parts of Stanley House are Grade 2* listed. English Heritage has given its full support to this exciting development and has been closely involved in the designs of the new buildings and landscape of the 58 acre estate which opened in 2004 at Mellor in the Ribble Valley countryside, between Preston and Blackburn.

Detailed plans and designs will be drawn up and finalised this year, with tenders being invited during 2010 for a start to the build in 2011.
