Reshuffle at top of Savills

Savills has appointed director James Evans as head of its Manchester office from 1 January 2016. Evans will take over from Patrick Joynson who will remain a senior director within the business.

Evans will work alongside Northern regional director Peter Mallinder.

Joynson has led the Manchester office for five years. In that time the office has expanded from 120 to 200 staff and moved into a new office at Belvedere, 12 Booth Street.

Evans joined Savills in 2006 and since then has worked alongside Joynson within the office agency team advising on high-profile instructions in the region including First Street, Piccadilly Place and One St Peter’s Square.

Joynson said: “Having been part of the original team establishing the Manchester office in 1996, I have thoroughly enjoyed my five years as head of office. Savills Manchester opened two weeks before the IRA bomb and I have always felt that our growth and success as an office has mirrored that of the city region, which is now unrecognisable from when we started.

“I take great pride in handing over the baton to James who, over his nine years at Savills, has developed into one of the most respected and high profile surveyors in Manchester. I will continue to work alongside him and be on hand to assist him in his new role as head of office. I have no doubt that he will continue to take the Savills brand forward in what is going to be a very exciting time not only for Savills but the whole region.”

Evans added: “I am very proud and excited to be taking on the role as head of Manchester. As a major regional office we are constantly developing and expanding in all areas. I am looking forward to driving this growth forward, whilst ensuring we continue to provide the highest quality advice and service to our client base.

“Manchester has the strongest possible profile as a regional city and Savills is incredibly well positioned to advise both occupiers and investors on the growing opportunities within the region.”

Established in 1996 by Mark Ridley, now chief executive of Savills UK & Europe, together with Patrick Joynson and Peter Mallinder, Savills Manchester has grown to be the largest Savills UK office outside of London. The office offers a range of services including investment, office agency, retail and leisure agency, property management, building consultancy, industrial, valuation, planning, lease consultancy, hotels, residential development and sales and mortgage broking.
