Remploy asks DTZ to sell northern sites
DTZ has been retained to sell the northern portfolio of Remploy factories being vacated due to sweeping cuts announced recently by the specialist disabled employer.
DTZ industrial agent Tony O'Keefe is selling a 23,000 sq ft at West Float, Birkenhead, with a guide price of £820,000; a 50,000 sq ft unit in Aintree for £1.5m; and a 100,000 sq ft is available to lease in St Helens.
Five more units are being sold in Yorkshire. The closures are part of cuts across England and Wales that will affect 28 factories.
Remploy is the UK's biggest employer of disabled people. Union Unite says the scheme of cuts and mergers will mean more than 2,000 job losses nationwide.
