Remarkable hires Lib Dem councillor

Communications and public affairs consultancy Remarkable Group has hired Cllr Iain Roberts, the former deputy leader of Stockport Council, to join its Manchester team.

Roberts was one of the original signatories to the Greater Manchester devolution deal alongside former Chancellor of the Exchequer George Osborne, and brings with him a wealth of local government knowledge.

Roberts is a Liberal Democrat councillor, who took over from Sue Derbyshire as leader of the Stockport branch of the party in 2016. At Remarkable, he will work as a senior account manager.

Kevin Whitmore, North region director for Remarkable Group, said: “Iain’s arrival is a real coup for Remarkable. He is one of the architects of DevoManc – the first devolution deal of its kind anywhere in the country. In an increasingly complex local government landscape, Iain’s experience strengthens our offer to clients looking to understand and engage with Metro Mayors and Combined Authorities across the North of England.”
