Redsun plans energy supplier park
Redsun Developments' has completed the acquisition from the West Register, the Royal Bank of Scotland property subsidiary, of a five-acre development site next to the Cammell Laird shipyard in Birkenhead, Wirral.
The development, to be known as Turbine Business Park, will contain 90,000 sq ft across seven separate units from 5,000 sq ft to 18,000 sq ft.
Redsun said the park would be targeted at businesses operating in the maritime and renewable energy sector, given the proximity to Cammell Laird and Dong Energy sites, both involved in the expansion of Irish Sea wind farms.
The development will be supported by £1.25m of grants from the Regional Growth Fund and Wirral Council towards the cost of £6m.
Redsun has submitted a planning application. Subject to approval, construction is scheduled to start in early 2015 with units being completed and ready for occupation later that year.
Legat Owen and B8 Real Estate are instructed agents for the development.
Craig Booton, managing director of Redsun, said: "We know the Wirral market very well and we expect demand will be very strong for units in this key location. The site has nearly 25,000 vehicle movements a day along the A41 frontage, so it's hard to think of a more prominent business location on the Wirral. The renewable energy and maritime sectors are strong in this area and we look forward to further contributing to attracting investment into the Wirral with this development."
