Redsun completes £16m Ellesmere Port industrial
Main contractor Caddick Construction has finished building two warehouses totalling 280,000 sq ft on the developer’s Aviator site.
Nestled next to Junction 6 of the M53, the Fletcher Rae Architects-designed warehouses were speculatively built. The larger of the two is 200,000 sq ft, while the other is 80,000 sq ft.
Together, they make up the second phase of the wider Aviator project, which will see a total of 450,000 sq ft of industrial space added to Ellesmere Port.
Caddick completed the first phase of Aviator, a 125,000 sq ft warehouse, in February 2020. That warehouse was subsequently leased to Survitec Group.
Caddick started work on the second phase started in August 2021.
“It is a testament to our team’s successful delivery of phase one that we were appointed to work with Redsun on the second phase of its impressive Aviator project,” said Ian Threadgold, managing director of Caddick Construction in the North West.
“This is an incredibly high-quality industrial scheme boasting excellent connectivity to the region and wider UK and we are privileged to have been involved,” he continued.
Reflecting on the completion of Aviator’s second phase, Redsun director Nick Wightman said: “The profile of Ellesmere Port has changed significantly since we broke ground on the first phase nearly four years ago.
“Despite encountering a global pandemic in the middle of that period, this development has been a great success for us and its quality is testament to the construction and design team involved over both phases,” he said.
“We look forward to bringing similar developments forward this year to tackle the continuing lack of supply in the region.”
The project team for Aviator includes Muir Associates and Crookes Walker Consulting. The agents for Aviator are B8 Real Estate and M1 Agency.
Caddick has been busy over the past year. Recent projects include 40 affordable homes in Wigan, the first £12m phase of the Stretford Mall revamp, and a £16.3m flexible warehouse scheme in Warrington.
