Redrow earmarks Local Plan land for 200 homes
The housebuilder has submitted plans for a £43m development in Congleton, on land allocated for housing in the draft Cheshire East Local Plan.
The proposed scheme is for 202 homes across 14-acres on land off Macclesfield Road. It includes a selection of one, two, three and four-bedroom homes, including the provision of affordable housing.
The development features a number of different house types from Redrow’s heritage collection. Plans also include the creation of a large area of public open space, along with an ecological area to support local wildlife.
John Grime, managing director of Redrow Homes, said: “This is an excellent site with the potential to add significant value to the local area.
“The development will not only support the market need for high quality affordable and family homes in Congleton, both now and in the future, but will also provide homes of distinction and character to enhance the locality.
“Congleton is a bustling town with strong transport links, good local schools, shops and amenities. All this, combined with the beauty of the Cheshire Peak District on the doorstep, make it the ideal family base. It’s an area already boasting a strong urban and rural architectural mix and, by building sensitively to the existing landscape, our development will offer a village feel while delivering real benefits for the community.”
A decision on the planning application is expected later in the year.
So a typical sprawling volume house builder estate and the usual cookie-cutter house types. This is not really newsworthy in my opinion.

Yes it’s all “uncertain” for residential developers apparently….

Ah but house builders don’t operate in a proper market, Dave, best illustrated by Persimmon’s controversial £600m bonus pot announcement whilst the country is in the midst of a housing crisis.
