Reading Room relocates to NQ building

Digital communications agency Reading Room has agreed a lease on 61-65 Spear Street in Manchester's Northern Quarter, comprising 6,157 sq ft.

Reading Room has taken the whole building, renamed NQ1 following a refurbishment by landlord Modern City Estates.

NQ1 contains offices across basement, ground and three upper floors. Reading Room moved from Albion Mill in Pollard Street, Ancoats at the start of this month. The top floor of NQ1 will be known as the Roost, a free space to host digital events.

Reading Room opened its Manchester office in April 2004 and has grown to a team of 25, working on campaigns for Keep Britain Tidy, Walk for Life and John Rylands' First Impressions. The agency also has bases in London, Singapore, Canberra, Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne.

Ed Keany, associate director at letting agent on NQ1, Edwards & Co, said: "We are delighted to have secured Reading Room as a tenant at NQ1 as the building complements the agency's creative ethos and values. NQ1 has given Reading Room the rare opportunity to occupy a fully self-contained office building in the Northern Quarter that has been refurbished to the highest standard.

"The Northern Quarter continues to carve out a strong reputation for being Manchester's creative hub and will provide Reading Room with the buzz and like-minded business community that they are looking for."

Diana Erskine, new managing director of Reading Room, said: "As a local agency with global backing we hope that by moving deeper into the city we can help to further establish the area as the go-to place for digital in the North."
