RBS calls in Sirdar loan on residential land

David Newall and Greg Judd at surveyors GVA have been appointed as Law of Property Act Receivers by lender RBS to sell 6.42 acres once owned by Sirdar Estates in Christleton.

Sirdar Estates, controlled by father and son Roger and Crispin Reeves, is now a dormant company but previously applied for planning consent develop 161 homes in a care village to be managed by nursing home specialist Housing 21. The proposals included a fitness centre, a GP surgery and day care facilities, as well as restaurant and activity facilities.

The application was refused on the grounds of the impact on Green Belt and Christleton Village Conservation Area.

The site lies between the A41 Whitchurch Road and the Shropshire Union Canal and comprises two parcels either side of the Cheshire Cat pub linked by a narrow strip.

The freehold of the land is being marketed for sale as a development opportunity. Both conditional and unconditional offers are invited. Accounts filed at Companies House valued the land at £371,000 in April 2010.

Roger and Crispin Reeves were not available when contacted by Place.
