Rapleys appoints head of cost consultancy

Jack Cawthra has joined the company from Gleave Partnership, where he worked for seven years and managed projects totalling more than £200m.

Cawthra will be based in the property and planning consultancy’s Manchester office. Joining as a partner, Cawthra will lead Rapleys’ cost consultancy and project management team.

Cawthra’s expertise lies in maximising returns on capital investments, contract practice, administration, cost planning, procurement and tendering, design economics, and construction-related insurance. His past clients include Amazon, Tesco, and London & Regional Properties.

“I’m excited to join Rapleys, a highly-respected firm with a strong 72-year history, a reputation for excellent client service, and ambitious growth plans for the future,” Cawthra said.

“It’s a very exciting time to join the partnership and I look forward to collaborating with colleagues and clients to offer an innovative and leading cost consultancy and project management service.”

Rapleys managing partner and head of building consultancy, Justin Tuckwell, said: “Jack’s appointment is in line with our ambitious growth strategy in core divisions of which building consultancy is right at the centre.

“Jack’s technical expertise and diligent control of costs and projects will deliver real value to clients and to the wider team as we continue to win varied project management mandates across land, housing, commercial, mixed-use, and niche sectors.”

Cawthra’s hire comes after what Rapleys describes as an “exceptionally successful year” for the firm. The consultancy reported that its building team’s revenue increased by 25% from the previous year.
