Proposals tabled for overhaul of Huyton shipping depot

Linden Hill Capital Management wants to knock down John Mason International on Wilson Road and replace it with a 210,000 sq ft industrial development.

The developer, through Linden Hill Capital Assets-ALX, has now lodged a planning application with Knowsley Council that seeks consent to demolish the existing facility on the 10-acre site and create a modern warehouse facility.

The proposal will have “high green credentials” and aims to achieve BREEAM ‘Excellent’ accreditation, according to a planning statement prepared by JLL.

“It is considered that the construction and operational phases of a major logistics development in this location would generate significant economic impacts, including increased employment and economic output,” the statement adds.

At present, around 35 staff work at John Mason International and Linden Hill predicts redeveloping the site could create up to 263 jobs.

Aew Architects and JLL are advising Linden Hill on the proposals.

The current facility is a bit dated now and really needs an upgrade, the proximity of the motorways and Liverpool Airport makes this an attractive location.
