Progress for more than 200 St Helens affordable homes

Stanley Land and Homes has submitted a planning application to create 170 properties on a former industrial site off Lancots Lane, while Your Housing Group has acquired a plot off Manor Street and plans to deliver 46 more.

Stanley proposes the creation of one-, two-, three- and four-bedroom homes on the 11-acre site.

Torus 62 is lined up to manage the properties, which will be available for a variety of affordable tenures, including shared ownership and affordable rent.

“If approved, this will be another highly sustainable scheme that will provide residents with efficient and affordable housing,” said Neil Hughes, director of Stanley Land and Homes.

“It’s situated in a location that is currently undergoing its own transformation, creating a new community and a great place for people to live.”

The professional team behind the development includes architect MPSL Planning and Design, engineer Alan Johnston Partnership, and planner Hive Land and Planning.

About a mile south of Stanley’s scheme, Your Housing Group has completed the purchase of a 2.3-acre site on Manor Street.

The housing association has appointed Westchurch Homes to build the 46-home scheme.

The homes will be a mix of eight maisonettes and 38 one-, two-, three-, and four-bedroom houses.

Lorraine Donnelly, director of development at Your Housing Group, said: “We are pleased to have completed on this site, and look forward to bringing the development forward and transforming this area into a vibrant community. Your Housing Group have ambitious growth plans to provide a variety of quality, safe and affordable homes for every stage of life.

“We currently have a number of developments across the North West and hope to bring much-needed housing to the area, unlocking affordable living for local people and building thriving communities.”

The development is supported with grant funding from Homes England through Your Housing Group’s strategic partnership agreement and £690,000 from Liverpool City Region Combined Authority through its brownfield land fund.

The brownfield site was the former home of Airtec Filtration. It had been subject to fire damage, leaving the building severely compromised.
