Programme director appointed for Media City UK

Jane Deane from urban regeneration company New East Manchester has been appointed as programme director of Peel Holding's Media City UK.

Deane was appointed by Media City UK partners Salford City Council, the North West Development Agency and Central Salford, the urban regeneration company.

She has been project director at urban regeneration company NEM since 2000, where her role has included responsibility for Sportcity and the regional casino bid.

The programme director's position is one of two senior executive posts created by Media City UK, and responsibilities will centre around taking the project forward to delivery stages.

The role will also include partnership development and the alignment of strategic objectives to ensure Media City UK delivers on its pledges to create lasting transformation change including job opportunities, training and community development.

The second senior executive position will be a managing director, which is currently being appointed by Peel Holdings subsidiary Peel Media.

Deane said: "The delivery of Media City UK will be a transformational driver in the regeneration of Salford, the North West and the future of the UK's media and creative industries. I'm delighted to be playing a part in delivering this ground-breaking project and look forward to working with all the regional and national partners who will help to turn the vision for Media City UK into a vibrant reality."

The programme director appointment has been made by Media City UK partners: Salford City Council, the North West Development Agency and Central Salford urban regeneration company.
