Preston resi site hits the market

Part of the former Preston police headquarters could be redeveloped into around 100 homes.

The Lawson Street site is being marketed by JO Real Estate with a £1.2m price tag.

The plot sits on the corner of Lawson Street and Walker Street close to Preston Combined Court Centre. The L-shaped site has planning permission for a new-build six-storey student accommodation block.

That block was proposed as part of a wider plan to create more than 650 student flats on the site. The proposals were put forward by BPS Developments, a vehicle of the Mahoney family that is selling the site.

Most of these flats have been delivered through the conversion of the eight-storey former police offices but the new-build element was never built.

The planning consent is still valid as part of the development has taken place.

In addition to student flats, the site could also accommodate a residential development of between 80 and 100 homes, according to JO Real Estate.
