Pre-let close at 2 Stockport Exchange
In the first pre-let at the building for Stockport Council and developer Muse, chemicals giant BASF is understood to be taking 23,000 sq ft at the speculative office development next to the town’s railway station.
The 61,500 sq ft sister office to the fully-let 1 Stockport Exchange is currently under construction and is scheduled to complete by the end of February 2020.
BASF is looking to relocate its team of around 200 staff from its existing base in at Stanley Green Business Park and is taking around 23,000 sq ft in the building, Place North West understands.
The deal is the first at 2 Stockport Exchange, which started in November last year, and follows the success of its sister office, which is let to Music Magpie and Stagecoach.
Stockport Exchange has also seen an NCP multi-storey car park, and a Holiday Inn Express delivered in the last five years, while it also counts Sainsburys and coffee shop Cafelito among its tenants.
Earlier this year, Muse development surveyor Greg Ball told Place North West further development at the site, which has outline consent for a series of commercial buildings stretching from the station to the A6, could follow “pretty quickly” depending on appetite for pre-lets at 2 Stockport Exchange.
Cushman & Wakefield and CBRE are the retained agents for Stockport Exchange.
Muse declined to comment.
