Pozzoni to open London studio

Altrincham-based architecture practice Pozzoni has opened a London studio to service its increasing client portfolio in the south.

The business, led by senior partner David Hughes, has taken studio space in the heart of Clerkenwell to position the practice for future expansion.

Pozzoni, which was established in 1972, now has 60 staff and has operated from its office in Altrincham since 1983.

The company made a turnover of £4m in 2008/2009 and has a projected turnover of £3.5m this financial year ending March 2010. However, the firm said this is subject to change.

Speaking about the expansion, David Hughes said: "Opening a London office was part of Pozzoni's business plan and this strategy has driven the practice over the past three years. Whilst the market has taken a severe knock during this period, we have tirelessly been researching opportunities and delivering projects UK-wide to build a solid client base that will help the practice to develop in the future.

"Our experience and knowledge across a variety of sectors has really helped the practice to maintain its strength and its market expertise. This expansion confirms that we have managed our fiscal responsibilities tightly over the last year to enable us to continue supporting the needs of our clients in their future growth also."

Pozzoni has undertaken projects including the Atlantic Hotel in Chelmsford, the refurbishment of six leisure centres in Wandsworth and the refurbishment of the Central YMCA club on Tottenham Court Road in London.
