Plans submitted for 92,000 sq ft Manchester Airport shed

Threadneedle Curtis, part of US-based asset management firm Columbia Threadneedle, is eyeing up the five-acre site off Pinfold Lane within the airport’s World Freight Terminal to deliver the warehouse.

Designed by architect RPS, the scheme would see the demolition of Hangar 4 to make way for a 92,200 sq ft facility.

Plans for the two-storey facility also include ground- and first-floor office space.

There would be 95 car parking spaces provided, including five disabled and 19 electric vehicle charging bays.

Avison Young is the scheme’s planning consultant. Tetra Tech is advising on transport, arboriculture, and flood risk.

In August 2020, Threadneedle acquired most of Manchester Airport’s non-core property portfolio for £380m.

Last year, the investor was granted planning permission to build three warehouses, totalling 85,000 sq ft, next to the current application site on the corner of Avro Way and Pinfold Lane.
