Plans in for Porsche showroom
Parker & Parker, operator of Porsche Centre Kendal, has made a major step forward in its long-held wish to upgrade to a larger site with the submission of a planning application for a site in Carnforth.
Barton Willmore is advising on the project. Parker & Parker have applied for consent for a site north of Kellet Road, to the east of Carnforth between the M6 and A601(M) spur to junction 35, which will house a showroom along with access, storage and other associated areas.
The scheme has been designed by Axis 3. Turner Lowe has worked on transport assessment, Galpin on landscape architecture, and Envirotech and Treescapes Consultancy on ecological matters. Preston O’Herlihy has worked on site searches for the dealer.
The facility, proposed to take up 25,000 sq ft externally with a 22,000 sq ft showroom and office building, will be one of less than 40 Porsche dealerships in the country. The dealer currently employs 16 people, which it hopes to expand to 25 in the larger space.
The German car giant is upgrading its retailer network and has a requirement for larger sites, as many historic showrooms date back to when Porsche specialised in small sports cars. Constrained sites such as the Kendal garage, in Longpool, have limited space for the modern utility vehicles added to the Porsche range.
