Plans in for Halewood extra care home
Consultancy Mosaic Town Planning has submitted an application for a 77-unit facility to Knowsley Council on behalf of developer Vistry Partnerships.
The scheme in Halewood, called Arncliffe, has been designed by JDA Architects and includes the provision of 77 affordable apartments intended for residents aged over 55.
The apartments would be managed by housing provider Plus Dane Housing.
There are plans for a guest suite, lounge, salon and bistro for use by both residents and guests. Residents would also have access to on-site security and maintenance, care and catering services, as well as therapeutic sensory gardens, Mosaic said.
Andrew Jalali, senior planner at Mosaic Town Planning, said: “There is a growing demand for high quality affordable homes among older people in the Liverpool City Region, caused by an ageing population and increase in single-person households.
“This scheme helps to address that demand while releasing existing family housing into the market and creating new jobs in the care sector.
“It also provides a safe and well-designed alternative to traditional care homes that are falling out of favour in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic.”
The proposals have been through an extensive period of consultation, and Knowsley Council is scheduled to determine the application in October.

I actually think this building will be an eye sore, after demolishing all the well built flats on the estate to replace them with a monstrosity of a building like this one.
I personally think older people don’t want to live in a rabbit warran, and would like their on little garden an front door off the street. Not down some corridor, like being in jail.
Why not build some bungalows or 2 bed houses.
Not everyone likes to live in these boxes .
