A scheme backed by Manchester City FC’s Vincent Kompany, a 30-storey SimpsonHaugh tower, and the latest residential development from One Manchester are all set for consent at next week’s planning committee.

The McAlpine JV submitted a planning application for the £85m scheme last September, on the site of Swan House. The project is set for approval subject to section 106 agreements for off-site affordable housing and public realm improvements in New Cross.

The scheme is earmarked for consent, subject to the signing of a section 106 agreement which keeps the development as a PRS scheme for a certain period with a review mechanism at a future date.

The development is made up of 13 two-storey houses, 102 apartments with car parking, and landscaping over two sites on either side of Gorton Lane. The homes are set for a mix of shared ownership and rent to buy.
The loss of The Shamrock in Ancoats is unacceptable and that art deco warehouse on Swan Street would be lost too! More tat.
