Places for People enters Green Deal market

Preston-based social housing group Places for People is to establish a green services business to provide Green Deal installers and advisers to third parties.

An alliance of advisers in five disciplines is being created to form the new business, called the Green Services Hub. The lots being tendered are consultancy, financial, legal, equipment supply and installation. The Green Services Hub will be controlled and owned by Places for People, which owns 62,000 homes.

Places for People estimated the turnover in the first four years will be at least £500,000 and could be as much as £700m, reflecting the size of the Green Deal low carbon retrofit market nationally.

The tender brief explained: "Places for People believes the green services market has significant potential in the domestic and non domestic markets, for housing providers and businesses. One of the greatest barriers to realising this potential is access to high quality products and services that are procurement compliant and deliver good value for money. The Green Services Hub intends to bridge this gap and provide the right services and products that clients need to deliver their projects."

The deadline for expressions of interest is Friday 30 November.
