The next annual residential sector conference organised by Place North West will focus on how to solve the supply crisis affecting all areas of the sector, with speakers from development, design, planning and local authority.

Topics will include private rented sector, return of city centre development, planning for urban extensions, consumer demand, economic outlook and public policy.

Place RESI 2014 is sponsored by Hill Dickinson, Turley Associates, PPS Group and the Livingcity Group of Companies.

Duncan Sutherland, chairman of Sigma Inpartnership, will address the conference on the rise of the private rented sector asset class among institutional investors. Sigma agreed in November 2013 a £200m joint venture with Kuwaiti-backed Gatehouse Bank to develop an initial 2,000 new privately rented residential properties across the North West.

Paul Lawrence, director of planning and regeneration at Stockport Council, will outline the authority's housing priorities. Stockport's programme includes major regeneration schemes in Brinnington, the former BAE Systems air base at Woodford, and the Covent Garden Village.

Other speakers in the programme who have also agreed to address the conference on Tuesday 4 February 2014 in Manchester are:

  • Kevin McGeough, senior strategy manager for sustainable development at the Homes & Communities Agency
  • Peter Nears, strategic planning director at Peel Group
  • Richard Laming, head of economic planning, and Jaimie Ferguson, head of urban design and masterplanning, Turley Associates

The remainder of the programme will be announced in due course.

The event will be a full-day format with a mix of formal presentations and panel discussions. Lunch will be provided. Tickets are priced at £59/delegate. The venue is City Tower, Manchester.
