Pizza factory for Omega

Public-private development joint venture, Omega Warrington, has agreed a deal, subject to planning, with Domino’s Pizza Development, for a £30m manufacturing and storage centre next to the M62.

Omega Warrington and Domino’s have submitted a reserved matters planning application for a 117,000 sq ft supply chain centre on Omega South.

The application for new business premises includes space for production, storage and distribution, a two-storey office, parking and a substation. The application, covering a five-acre plot directly to the east of the new ASDA unit, will also include a small access road leading off Skyline Drive and landscaping works.

Andrew Sutherland, joint managing director of Miller Developments, partner in Omega Warrington, said: “Pending a positive planning determination and the completion of legal agreements, we look forward to welcoming another big brand to Omega South. We are particularly encouraged by the imminent Domino’s Pizza deal as this will mark the second manufacturer on Omega South, following car parts production firm, Plastic Omnium; this is a very positive story for Warrington’s manufacturing industry.”

Michael Botha, commercial director at Domino’s Pizza Group, said the facility “will balance our supply chain infrastructure nationally and enhance our business resilience.”

The new facility would service 450 Domino’s stores across the North and employ 120 people in the local area.

Omega Warrington is a joint venture between Miller Developments and KUC Properties, in partnership with landowner the Homes & Communities Agency and supported by Warrington Council and the Cheshire & Warrington Local Enterprise Partnership.
