Pickup heads to Pozzoni

Joining from Arcadis, Chris Pickup has joined the Altrincham-headquartered architecture firm at director level, focusing on the education sector.

Pozzoni welcomed Pickup to the team this month, saying that he will provide further strength and skills to the growing 60-strong business. As well as Altrincham, the national practice has a studio in Brighton.

Pozzoni said that in his new role, Pickup will support the education team’s expanding schools’ portfolio, whilst reinforcing the firm’s presence in the higher and further education markets. Skilled in developing estates strategies, long-term campus wide visions, and successful detailed masterplans, he will work closely with director and sector lead, Catherine Mulley.

Since 2023, Pikcup had served as studio director and education lead at the Manchester office of multidisciplinary firm Arcadis Before that, he spent 22 years moving up through the ranks with IBI.

In his wider remit, Pickup will support Pozzoni’s senior leadership team, working alongside the board to help drive forward Pozzoni’s four-year business plan.

The firm said his addition comes at a pivotal point of growth, with a strong pipeline of new projects and key clients being formed, particularly within the last 12 months.

Catherine Mulley, director at Pozzoni Architecture, said: “Chris will be instrumental in expanding our education sector offering to clients, and will be working closely with our established team across our two studios in Altrincham and Brighton.

“His expertise integrates seamlessly to enhance our capabilities as well as strengthening our operational leadership. On behalf of the board, I warmly welcome Chris to the business.”

Pozzoni’s education team is currently delivering St John Vianney RC School to provide SEND provision to 160 students across Trafford as part of the Department for Education’s Rebuilding Programme; Salesian Academy of St John Bosco which received unanimous approval from Sefton Council last year; and Laurus Grace which is an alternative provision free school for 80 pupils being delivered for the DfE in Stockport.
