Persimmon proposes further 225 homes for Penwortham

Having received approval for the first phase of 49 properties in July this year, the housebuilder now seeks consent for the next three phases of the Mill Green Gardens development.

Persimmon Homes acquired the 28-acre site from L&Q in April and moved quickly to lodge plans to South Ribble Council for its 274-home neighbourhood.

The plans have been worked up for the 28-acre plot with Urban Design Group. Lichfields is the scheme’s planning consultant.

Phase one consists of the approved 49 homes and a further 71 homes sought under a Section 73 application.

The following phases two and three would bring forward the remaining 154 homes, rounding off Mill Green Gardens.

Across the two applications, 62 properties will be transferred to registered providers to be offered as affordable homes.

Plans also outline public open spaces and Section 106 contributions towards nearby sport and recreation.

Rachael Graham, planning director at Persimmon Lancashire, said: “We’re delighted to be working with South Ribble Council and local stakeholders to deliver much-needed new housing in Penwortham.

“The proposed development would provide a wide range of high-quality, energy-efficient homes, with something available for all buyers at prices people can afford.

“We look forward to continuing our work with South Ribble Council as we progress these applications through the planning system.”

A Lidl supermarket sits to the south of the site, having been built in an earlier phase.

FES Group and Eddisons advised on the application.
