Persimmon appoints managing director

Gareth Stansfield will lead the housebuilder’s Lancashire and Cumbria division, having joined the company from Redrow where he was a land director.

As managing director for Persimmon Lancashire, Stansfield will oversee the company’s projects in Workington, Penrith, Blackburn, Darwen, Clitheroe, Poulton-le-Fylde, Preston, and more. That includes its proposals for 1,000 homes in Lancaster, 300 houses in South Ribble, and 720 residences in Morton.

Stansfield will also manage a staff of more than 180, including 40 apprentices.

“I am delighted to be joining Persimmon Lancashire at what is an exciting time for the business, with several developments already underway and multiple planning applications progressing with local authorities,” Stansfield said.

“I hope to bring all my previous expertise to ensure we go from strength to strength and continue to deliver high quality-homes and leave a lasting positive legacy in all the areas in which we build.”

John Roocroft, regional chair for Persimmon Homes North West England and Scotland, said that he was “very pleased” to have Stansfield join the team.

“Gareth’s breadth and depth of experience will be invaluable as we continue to grow across Cumbria and Lancashire,” Roocroft said.

“I look forward to working closely with him in the coming years as we continue to deliver high-quality homes across the region.”

Stansfield will be based out of Persimmon’s Lancaster office, which is located at Lancaster Business Park.

Persimmon, which was founded in 1972, is headquartered in York and employs more than 5,000 people across the country.

Hope he makes them build them more energy efficient. We have a room over the garage which is freezing even with heating on. We have been here 10 years
