Peel, Northstone make 13,000 sq ft MediaCity move

Relocating from Arrive in White Tower, the developer and its housebuilding division have taken space previously occupied by retailer Booths.

Booths closed down last year and the unit has since been carved up for alternative uses.

The ground floor of the building is soon to be occupied by Co-op, and Peel L&P and Northstone will move into 13,000 sq ft on the upper floors, following a £1.6m fit-out by Consensus Workspace.

Andy Plastow, director at Consensus Workspace, said: “By using natural, sustainable materials, making the most of the natural light and fitting a gym, we have made it into a great space for both hybrid and full-time office-based working, with a real focus on employee wellbeing.”

The fit-out project involved a complete strip out of the old retail and office unit. Consensus then revamped the space, creating new office areas, a gym, kitchen, toilet block, meeting rooms and open plan breakout spaces.

This is the sixth refit Consensus has carried out at MediaCity. The company has also just wrapped up the conversion of 55,000 sq ft of traditional office space into flex space in Tomorrow.

As well as the Co-op, the ground floor of Peel and Northstone’s new head office will also be occupied by Greggs, which will make its long-awaited MediaCity debut this summer.

Peel L&P has confirmed that the popular bakery chain will open a 1,500 sq ft store, creating around 25 new jobs.

Chris Reay, MediaCity’s property director, said: “We know there’s a dedicated Greggs fan base across MediaCity and after listening to feedback we’re thrilled to secure Greggs.

“It will provide a good value, convenience food offering which will be in demand from our growing numbers of workers, residents and visitors alike. It will be an incredible success here.”
