Peel gets consent for £1bn Trafford Waters

Trafford Waters, Peel’s £1bn mega-scheme which includes 3,000 apartments and 850,000 sq ft of offices, has been approved.

The development area is between the Manchester Ship Canal, Trafford Boulevard and Old Barton Road in Urmston. The site includes the grade one-listed All Saints Church and Barton-upon-Irwell conservation area.

Alongside the homes and offices, Trafford Waters includes a hotel with 300 bedrooms, a care home of 150 beds, a primary school with two forms totalling 420 places, new pedestrian footbridge over Trafford Boulevard and 20 acres of public space.

Peel said green corridors and waterways throughout the site, which is next to the Intu Trafford Centre and Trafford Leisure Village, will help sustain vitality and vibrancy and attract residents, businesses and visitors.
