Panattoni preps demo of 430,000 sq ft Warrington industrial

Having acquired the former Iceland complex at Hardwick Grange in October, the developer wants to commence demolition work next month.

Panattoni and partner Mitsui Fudosan want to knock down the 430,000 sq ft former frozen foods distribution centre to pave the way for a modern, £135m logistics scheme on what the partners believe is the largest brownfield site of its kind in the North West.

The 30-acre site “no longer suits the requirements of modern industry”, according to a cover letter prepared by consultant Lichfields.

As a result, the units will be knocked down, clearing the path for new and better facilities. An application for the proposed redevelopment is due early next year.

Panattoni and Mitsui Fudosan purchased the property from Firethorn and English Real Estates for an undisclosed sum.
