Owen Street and Brazennose House both due for decisions

A 64-storey residential tower by Renaker, a 215-bed hotel by Royal London, and 92,000 sq ft of offices by Prupim are on the agenda for next week’s planning committee meeting at Manchester Town Hall.

The major developments due to be decided upon by planning members are:

• Four residential towers
• Tallest 64 floors, or 200.5 metres
• Shortest 43 floors, 121 metres
• 1,400 apartments
• Developer: Renaker
• Architect: SimpsonHaugh & Partners

John Dalton House, 121 Deansgate

• Two floors to be added to existing building
• Reclad and refurbishment
• Hotel, 215 rooms
• Royal London Mutual Insurance Society
• 5plus Architects

Also on the same agenda, two items relating to proposed blocks at Bruntwood and Select’s Circle Square, on the site of the former BBC building on Oxford Road, will reappear before members next week despite gaining approval at the last planning meeting. A spokesperson for Circle Square said: “Following the planning committee meeting on 2 June, planning permission was granted for the commercial office and multi-storey car park applications for Phase 1B of our Circle Square development. Unfortunately due to an administrative error on the published agenda in relation to the order in which items would be considered by the committee, some confusion arose which resulted in a member of the public not being able to present their views on the Circle Square residential applications. Given the strategic importance of the Circle Square development, and in the interest of transparency, we have agreed that these two applications should be referred back to committee on 30 June to allow those views to be properly heard.”
