Orbit sets mark for 2017 big shed deals
The Cheshire developer has agreed a 368,400 sq ft deal with tissue paper business Accrol at M58 Distribution Centre in Skelmersdale in the region’s largest industrial deal of the year so far.
Blakcburn-based Accrol manufactures over 18 million units per week of its branded and private label tissue products for some of the UK’s largest retailers, including Aldi, Lidl, Tesco and Morrisons.
The newly refurbished Skelmersdale facility, selected for its immediate road links to the M58 and close connection to the M6, will house finished goods and provide central distribution facilities to all UK customers, allowing Accrol to consolidate its existing facilities. Warehouse management and national distribution logistics will be outsourced to NFT.
Accrol listed on AIM last year and has shown its ambition since, opening a new 168,000 sq ft manufacturing facility in Leyland, Lancashire this April.
Dennis Dwyer, Orbit Developments’ divisional director for Merseyside, said: “Skelmersdale is an excellent logistics location with its proximity to the M6 and Port of Liverpool and the letting not only proves this, but also demonstrates the demand in the market for quality industrial premises.”
CBRE and Knight Frank are joint agents for the scheme.
