Orbit seals second Stockport deal in fortnight
Orbit Developments has let 9,000 sq ft of office accommodation at Applicon House in Stockport to Canadian-owned business, the Cash Store.
It is the second significant Stockport deal Orbit has signed in as many weeks after it let 9,720 sq ft at Park Square in Cheadle to US-owned engineering consultancy, Jacobs Engineering.
As part of the Orbit deal, it is understood that the Cash Store, which has a growing retail presence across the UK, will relocate and increase its admin function and contact centre in Stockport. The move is expected to create a significant number of jobs in the area.
Applicon House is a six-storey building in Exchange Street and is now 80% occupied. Rhys Owen, leasing surveyor at Orbit Developments, said: "Stockport is witnessing exciting growth at the moment. This is a sizeable letting by an international company and will have positive implications for the local economy. We only have one floor left at Applicon House, which we hope to let before the end of the year. We are also seeing strong interest in our other Stockport properties."
The Cash store signed a 10-year lease with a quoting rent of £12.95/sq ft. The Cash Store was represented by Leslie Roberts & Co. Orbit Developments acted for itself.
